Polymyalgia Arthritis
Polymyalgia arthritis can cause widespread aching and stiffness of the muscles and joints in older adults. It can be difficult to diagnose because the physical exam can be fairly unremarkable. It is also closely related to another inflammatory condition called, giant cell arteritis.

- The symptoms of Polymyalgia arthritis are stiffness and aching, worse on arising in the morning or after prolonged inactivity, affecting the upper arms, neck, buttocks, hips and thighs.
- Polymyalgia arthritis generally affects adults over the age of 50.
- Symptoms usually respond quickly and completely to a low dose of corticosteroids.
